Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Finally, the National Examinations Council (Necta) has released the Form Six 2020 results, with the overall pass rate increasing slightly from 98.32 percent last year to 98.38 percent this year.
On Friday (August 21 2020), Necta Executive Secretary Dr Charles Msonde told reporters in Zanzibar that 82,440 students out of 84,212 candidates who took the exam had passed. This year’s performance is 0.03 percent higher than the overall achievement rate for 2019.
“In addition, the quality of performance has improved as the number of successful candidates in grades I, II, and III has increased by 1.13 percent in 2020, from 96.61 percent to 97.74 percent,” Dr Msonde said.
As a result, 31,786 girls passed grades I through III, representing 98.24 percent of all girls who took the test, a slightly higher rate than boys.
40,444 boys, or 97.35 percent, passed in those higher grades, trailing girls by about one percent.
The results of five students found guilty of cheating in a test administered between June and July of this year, however, have been canceled by the council.
