Education System in Tanzania

In Tanzania education comprises four levels; primary school (7 years), secondary School (O – Level) 4 years, Advance Level education (2 years) and Higher learning (3 – 5 years). So the Tanzanian educational system operates on the 7-4-2-(3 to 5) years system.

PSLE (Primary School Leaving Examination)

What is Necta?

The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) is Government Institution which was established by the Parliamentary Act No. 21 of 1973. NECTA is responsible for the administration of all National Examinations in Tanzania.

Goals of PSLE

The goals of PSLE are to assess learners’ skills and knowledge gained in various subjects at the primary school level; to assess learners’ understanding of basic skills and abilities in reading, writing, and arithmetic, as well as the extent to which they can apply such skills in solving relevant problems in life; and to identify learners with the capacity to continue with secondary education and other training institutions.
